About Us

The name ' Nelson Butt' is believed to have been derived from when Nelson was killed during the battle of Trafalgar. His body was returned to english soil in a butt of brandy.

Glen and Coralie took over the Nelson in February 06. After a major refurbishment they re-opened in March, with a new approach, new ideas and a focus on customers being the centre of their business. Thus creating the old fashioned hub of the community atmosphere.

Glen has an extensive knowledge of the pub and restaurant trade, coming from a family of publicans. His career in the trade has taken him from hotels to around the world on the Q.E.2. He has been able to transfer this knowledge to this lovely local market town pub.
